What you say is very true, and has a counterpoint in challenging creative situations too. When should we quit on a creative project because it's just not working out, and when should we push through the difficulties and complete? Too many writers I know feel like they have been "fired" from their own creative projects! When, in reality, sometimes you have to try out a few possibilities before you find one that feels like it will truly take off.
